Acne Scar Removal

Acne is never easy to deal with at any age and everyone’s skin responds differently to treatments, making prevention and care difficult. Cartessa’s Quanta Evo Light™ 4V carefully targets the treatment area and encourages the production of collagen, a natural protein found in the body that makes the skin stronger and clearer, and effectively minimizing the appearance of acne scars.

Acne scar removal, by skin resurfacing, via laser reduces the appearance of scars and acne. It uses focused light therapy to either remove the outer layer of the skin’s surface or stimulate the production of new skin cells to cover damaged skin cells.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

During laser resurfacing, an intense beam of light energy (laser) is directed at your skin. The laser beam destroys the outer layer of skin (epidermis). At the same time, the laser heats the underlying skin (dermis), which causes collagen fibers to shrink. Laser skin resurfacing burns the face to create a new skin surface and reduce acne scars. The procedure is up to 80% effective for shallow scars, but deep scars can be treated before or during laser resurfacing.

Ablative laser resurfacing is a procedure that uses a wand-like laser instrument to remove the upper layers of skin from acne scars. Commonly referred to as “laser peeling” since it removes old skin cells in order to reveal newer, more youthful cells.

Benefits

Laser skin resurfacing heats the skin layers underneath the skin to promote collagen production. This treatment stimulates the skin in the treatment area to heal in a smoother, more even appearance.

Laser treatment for acne scar removal works in two ways:

First, heat from the laser works to remove the top layer of your skin where a scar has formed. As the top layer of your scar peels off, your skin appears smoother, and the appearance of the scar is noticeably less rosy.

As the scar tissue breaks apart, heat and light from the laser also encourage new, healthy skin cells to grow. Your blood flow is drawn to the area by the heat of the laser. As a result, the inflammation and vessels in the scar are targeted for less of a blemish appearance therefor, reducing the appearance of any acne scars.

All of this combines to make acne scars look less raised and red, giving them a smaller appearance. It also promotes the healing of your skin.
